Family and friends are gathering Wednesday to honor the memory of beloved mother and grandmother Barbara Sayky Bryk. Born Dec. 15, 1940, Bryk died Aug. 29 at the age of 69.

Bryk worked as an administrative assistant more than 27 years at Champion International and more than 10 years at General Foods. She was also an animal lover and, according to her family, would feed any stray dogs or cats that came her way.

She is survived by her husband, Matthew A. Bryk; two daughters, Elizabeth M. Rusk and Deborah Fratino, both of Fairfield, and two stepchildren, Daniel Bryk of Bolton, Conn., and Allison Bryk of Nashville; and four grandchildren, Isabella and Joey Fratino of Fairfield and Ciara and Edward Bryk of Bolton.

Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to PAWS, 504 Main Ave., Norwalk, CT 06851, or to pawsct.org.
